Ramiele is now the premiere pop singer in the Philippines (Go Rami!!!!) and this domain works perfectly for a Ramiele fan network. THANKS!!!!!!
Alright so I've now officially pulled the soapbox out from under the counter and dusted it off.
One of my biggest beefs with American Idol judging is that they weigh so much of their commentary on a song choice and whether or no they were "bored". Silly me, I thought they were supposed to be judging on talent, on singing ability, on a contestants ability to sing ANY given song. Instead when a contestant tries to pull of a slower (gasp!) more melodic song they are essentially crucified on stage! Never mind that some of the most memorable songs EVER written were slower than molasses in January and yet still capable of stirring the soul.
Ok ok so I'm a bit jaded because of the treatment Ramiele received last night but I still think that my argument is a valid one. I've seen far to many great singers get a bad Simon review (and that IS the kiss of death) simply because he was bored and compelled to make some repetitive reference to a lounge or cabaret or something. Sidenote: How did Simon become such an expert on Cabaret talent? Anyway, I do hope that America is capable of seeing past the steering campaign that is in place with the judging crew and that they will vote based on overall talent and ability.
It's official! Ramiele is a Bona Fide top 12 finalist in American idol! I never had any doubts but it's just great to see that it happened! This past week it seems that Ramiele's minor controvercy was far overshadowed by the more serious information released about other contestants. Probably the most substantial of complaints could be made against some of the most liked contestants. David Archuleta was a prior winner (2003) on Star Search, also Kristy Lee Cook and Carly Smithson had prior major label record deals. These in my eyes really should receive a little bit more attention as they are directly related to the competition. Other leveled allegations of stripping, inappropriate photos and even drunk driving don't necessarily matter when your looking at an artist for their VOCAL talent and marketability. How many secular recording artist are free from all scandal? Don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting or sanctioning foul or damaging behavior, I'm just saying that if American Idol truly is a 'singing competition' ('denotes Simon-like british accent) shouldn't the singing make headlines more often than the scandal?
It's a pipe dream I know, this is after all America... BTW, does anybody remember what Janet Jackson was singing when the infamous wardrobe malfunction occured?
